While maritime traffic account for over 80% of international freight transport, research on maritime transport, port organizations and the territorial impact of these activities is relatively poorly represented in the French laboratories economics, geography or planning. Based on this observation, the DEVPORT project brings together researchers from different laboratories and universities. It wishes to initiate the establishment of a network that will help popularize these fields of research in the academia sphere but also in the maritime and port business world.
This diffusion is based on academic’s articles and communications, of each of project’s members. These works are mentioned in the "Publications and Communications".
The emphasis is on producing cartographic media is particularly suitable for the visualization of multi-scale problems of the challenges of global circulation of freight and land organizations that which ensure the routing of goods. DEVPORT inaugurates a workshop that presents maps and graphics made by the members of the network at various stages of completion; from schematic sketch to graphical model and various analytical maps that feed research.
This project was implemented as part of a research program entitled "Passage portuaire" which is part of the Grand Research Network Transport, Logistics and Information Technology funded by the Région Haute-Normandie. It also benefits from the ERDF.
